About Uwork

For each platform we review, we:

1. Create a real account — using a real email and a standard resume, the same one an actual job seeker would use.
2. Apply to jobs — typically 5-10 per platform, across different role types, to get a representative sample.
3. Track responses — we log every response, every scam attempt, and every legitimate interview invitation.
4. Test the filters — do the search tools actually work? Does "remote only" actually return remote jobs?
5. Check for scams — we look for common red flags in every listing and note how many we encounter.

Our testing is ongoing. We update reviews quarterly or when we notice significant changes in platform quality.

Uwork is funded through affiliate partnerships. When you click a link to a platform we recommend and sign up, we may earn a commission — at no cost to you.

We chose this model because it keeps Uwork free for everyone. No paywalls. No subscriptions. No selling your data. If we recommend something and you find it useful enough to sign up, the platform pays us a finder's fee.

Platforms we currently have affiliate relationships with: FlexJobs. We are applying to additional programs and will update this list as it grows.

Uwork was founded by Dom Michaels, who has spent 8+ years building and managing remote teams. After watching too many friends and colleagues get scammed by fake remote job listings, he started Uwork as a resource to help people find legitimate work.

We're a small team. We do our own testing. We write every word. We don't use AI to generate reviews or accept guest posts from platforms looking to promote themselves.
